I just got a new lens for my camera the other day and had to test it out. Of course my very best model is my four legged son, Killian.
He now dreads when I break out my camera around the house b/c he knows it's going to be aimed his way. But unfortunately, he runs and you can see me chasing him around the yard trying to get a picture of him. Somebody should probably be getting a video of me as I try to capture his photo...that's a site to see. But, I was very excited to start using it as I am going to make use of it for my next photo shoot.
Anyway, I really like my new lens. I got a Sigma 30mm f1.4 prime lens and love the shallow depth of field that I can get with it! I shoot with an Olympus E-3, which is on a four thirds system, the 30mm is actually equivalent to 60mm.
Here's why... for example, a Four Thirds lens with a 30 mm
focal length would cover about the same angle of view as a 60 mm focal length lens for the
35 mm film standard, and is correspondingly more compact. That is, the Four Thirds System is said to have a
crop factor (focal length multiplier) of about 2.
Did you get that?? LOL Just trust me, I like my new lens and what I've seen out of it so far. But, Saturday I will put it to the test.
Here are a few photos of Killian that I shot with my new lens.
